A large vase formed by hand, using the traditional method of glasswork. It is an example of Polish art glass of the PRL era.
The vase is made of glass with different saturation of purple, thanks to which beautiful color transitions are achieved. The vase has the form of a classic goblet, with a prominent belly mounted on a large column in the form of a ball carved in vertical stripes, supported on a round base.
The period of the greatest prosperity of Polish artistic glass falls on the period of the People's Republic of Poland, i.e. the 1960s and 1970s. The opening of the Artistic Glass Department at the Wrocaw State School of Fine Arts by Stanisaw Dawski at that time was of particular importance for the development of glass-making in Poland. The graduates of this faculty were the best post-war designers of artistic glass, including Jerzy Suczan-Orkusz, Zbigniew Horbowy, Henryk Wilkowski, and Barbara Urbaska-Miszczak. The Krakw Glass Institute, which operated in the Polish People's Republic, also had a significant impact on the development of artistic glass.
Both the so-called Krakow glass as well as glass produced in Polish glassworks such as Krosno, Tarnowiec or Zbkowice have artistic and collector's values. Polish glasses from the 1960s and 1970s are currently very popular among collectors both in Poland and abroad.
