Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 465, commonly known as HMH-465, is a United States Marine Corps aviation unit under the command of Marine Aircraft Group 39 and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. The squadron operates CH-53E Super Stallion heavy transport helicopters, primarily tasked with transporting troops, equipment, and supplies to remote locations, as well as providing vertical envelopment during amphibious assault operations.Based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, California, HMH-465 was established on March 1, 1987, succeeding the disbanded HMM-364 "Red Raiders." The squadron's motto is "In Pinnis Altissimo," Latin for "On Lofty Heights," symbolizing their role in providing high-altitude airlift capabilities.
